Our project - Mary Jane Farmgirl

Historically, doll quilts were made by children as a way of learning to sew. So, I thought it would be appropriate for us to start with a doll quilt. They make wonderful decorative accent pieces. Here is the quilt we will be making.

Fabric requirements

1/4 yard - blue (or whatever color you choose - 4 patch block)
3/8 yard - background
3/8 yard - blue (border)
1/4 yard - binding fabric
3/4 yard - backing
Your blocks will measure 4" finished. When we refer to a block size, most patterns will use the finished. What this means is that it does not includes the seam allowance. For quilters, the seam allowance is a constant 1/4".
If some of you wish to use scraps, they must be 5" or greater.
For those interested is viewing an antique doll quilt, I had the privilige of viewing an antique doll quilt and have blogged about it on my Quilting Adventure blog. The entry may be viewed here.
